What is Laser Vein Therapy?
Today’s new medical lasers provide an effective non-surgical treatment option for the removal of spider and varicose veins. Our new, advanced laser treatments allow us to deliver a precise dosage of energy to each vein. During your treatment, light energy is delivered to the targeted vein. The light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, but not the surrounding tissues.

Will Laser Therapy work on my legs?
Millions of women and men are bothered by unsightly red and blue veins from the face and legs. These veins can be treated effectively. Spider veins, or telangiectasia, are those small red, blue and purple blood vessels that appear most frequently on the face and thighs. Prior to treatment we will review your medical history to determine the severity of the problem, to determine your skin type, and to decide if further testing is required before laser vein therapy is attempted.

What are the treatments like?
First we identify the veins to be treated. A pulse of light (laser) energy is then delivered along the length of the vessel, larger veins first. Most patients report little discomfort. Some experience a mild burning sensation with the pulse of the laser.

How many treatments will I need?
The majority of the treated vessels will be gone for good with one or two treatments. For the maximum long-term resolution, one or two additional treatments may be necessary. Most treatments are in three to four week intervals.

What is recovery like?
Following treatment, you are encouraged to resume most normal activities immediately. Vigorous activities should be avoided in the first 24 hours. You may be asked to wear support hose or heavy stockings to help keep pressure on the veins. Bruising around the treated areas usually disappears after the first week. A tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks when larger veins are involved. Although the final results may not be apparent for several months, most of our patients enjoy the comfort and the look of legs without unsightly red, blue and purple veins.
