IPL PHOTOFACIAL REJUVENATION
Rejuvenating Photofacial IPL treatment delivers visible
improvement in facial redness and flushing while helping reverse the
signs of sun damage and aging.
What is Photofacial?
IPL Skin Rejuvenation Treatment, also known as Photofacial, is a non-laser
medical device used to deliver a series of gentle pulses of light
to the skin. This innovative technique allows for the energy levels
of Intense Pulse Light to target and eliminate damaged areas and effectively
correct both:
• Reds: rosacea, broken capillaries, and redness to the neck
and chest;
• Browns: age spots, freckles and uneven pigmentation.
The procedure will also reduce wrinkling and large pores, and leave
your skin feeling softer and looking younger.
Who is the best candidate
for Photofacial?
Photofacial Treatments are for anyone who wants to have visible improvement
in facial redness and flushing as well as reversing the signs of sun
damage and aging, with little discomfort and minimal risk. People
who suffer with rosacea see an improvement in breakouts and are able
to decrease or discontinue their medications. These treatments are
designed for people who don’t want any disruption from their
normal activities or downtime required to heal from laser resurfacing
or chemical peels.
What
conditions does the IPL treat?
IPL
treats many facets of sun damage, flushing,
skin texture, redness, broken capillaries,
brown spots, acne scars, age spots, dark circles
around the eyes, sun-induced freckles on the
hands, chest, and face, broken capillaries
around the nose and excels in helping the reduction
of fine wrinkles and large pores. IPL can be
used on the face, chest, neck, hands, and arms
with great results.
What is a Photofacial
treatment like?
Each treatment takes approximately 15 to
30 minutes. Specific settings are selected
for each treatment for maximum results. A
mild amount of discomfort can be expected.
Although anesthetic cream is not required,
it is available at our office and can be
applied 30 to 60 minutes before treatment.
During treatment, an intense light is emitted
in a series of gentle pulses over the entire
face at intervals of approximately three weeks
for a series of five treatments. This special
light, which is different than laser treatments,
emits light over many wavelengths allowing
the light to penetrate to all the levels
of the skin where abnormal easily dilated
vessels can be found. There is no discomfort
after the procedure. A series of five or
more treatments are performed at three week
intervals for optimal improvement.
Can
I combine Photofacial with microdermabrasion?
Photofacial treatments can be used in conjunction with Microdermabrasion,
Botox© or chemical peels. The combination of treatments will
enhance the results of the IPL Photofacial procedures and provide
the healthiest and youngest looking skin possible.
How
much improvement will I see?
Typically 75-95% improvement will be seen after a
set of treatments. Patients can expect 50% improvement
in redness and Rosacea, and between 30-40% improvement
in pigmentation.
Will
I need additional treatments?
After your initial series of 3-5 treatments,
maintenance sessions are usually needed. We will
educate you in ways of caring for your skin to
help diminish the likelihood of future treatments.
How soon will I see results?
After your first treatment, your skin will feel smoother and will
have a more even tone. Immediately following a treatment, the skin
may appear red and brown spots may appear more visible, but these
changes gradually fade over a period of hours to a few days. With
completion of each treatment you can expect to see continuing results
and will gradually achieve consistent and dramatic improvement in
sun damage, redness, brown spots and wrinkling.
What
are the side effects?
Few patients
have reported slight skin blistering, swelling,
redness, hyperpigmentation, scabbing, and flaking
of the skin. There have been no reports of
scarring, or worsening of the skin condition treated
with PhotoFacial™.
Why
should I have an IPL treatment?
You can have photo perfect, glowing, smooth, blush-free
skin with finer lines and more youthful looking skin
with NO DOWN TIME from school or work. The IPL is
the first procedure ever that can accomplish so much
with such low risk and no down time. This new and
exciting treatment has aroused hundreds of news stories
in print and on television.
